Statement on Strike Occurred at Hotel ICON


Hong Kong SAR, CHINA – 04 March, 2017 – There has been a confirmed employee strike that occurred among Mainland China, Singapore and Hong Kong, including Hotel ICON 08:00 a.m. this morning raised highly concerns. This unauthorized 24-hour strike involved cleanser and janitor staffs, who demands a 50% increase on salary. Hotel ICON criticized on the false rumor and irresponsible comments among social media. Hotel ICON is following all the rules and laws and that our hiring practices are fair and our salaries are competitive in Hong Kong, all cleaning staff salaries above the minimum wage all the time. Labor Department has already issued announcement to request protesters immediately stop their unlawful action and return to their workplace.


Hotel ICON is currently in normal operation, and working with Workers’ Union to process negotiation with representative of striking employees. The related follow-up information will release once any further findings available.
For the past years since Hotel ICON founded in 2011, including 262 guest rooms in total and 3 restaurants, and most of our employees are from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. We have always maintained a good relationship with our employees and dedicated to the satisfaction of all the employees, ensuring competitive salaries and staff welfare.
