From a legal point of view, this strike is unauthorized. It is an illegal strike and we have the right to fire the workers at any point. Strikes should be announced so that companies can find mechanisms to avoid daily operations from being disrupted. We would recommend the CMT to stress the fact that our company is following all the rules and laws and that our hiring practices are fair and our salaries competitive.

We are exploring the legality of the two options proposed by the Human Resources Department. We believe it would be unwise to hire new workers for one day as this could create legal troubles. However, we understand the importance of cleaning staff in our daily operations and how difficult it is to keep our business running without them. We also would like to say that the company cannot accept a 50% increase in the salary of cleaning staff, because this would lead to other workers asking for a similar increase.
